Summary:

To me, love is like a fire. I need to huddle against it to survive the harsh cold of the world. And I would do anything to keep that flame lit.

"Prove it."

Camellia is over the moon when her new crush, Jane, agrees to go on a date with her. But when sightings of a serial murderer start getting too close for comfort, Camellia will have more than just romance to worry about.

Content warnings: Blood, murder, graphic violence, obsession, toxic characters, toxic relationships, profanity, mentions of homophobia, self-hatred, allusions to self-harm

Features:

  • 26k+ words
  • 6 endings
  • 1(?) love interest
  • 10 full-colored CGs
  • Dozens of additional illustrations
  • 2-4 hours of gameplay

Characters:

Camellia - Protagonist

18 years old - Business Administration Major - any pronouns (defaults to she/her)

Has a crush on Jane and is best friends with Anna.

Loves love above all else. Camellia doesn't have the best track record with relationships, but she never gives up hope. A pessimistic optimist.

Likes: Reading, hate watching movies, Jane!!!!!

Dislikes: Nicknames, gore, being vulnerable

Jane - Love Interest

20 years old - Psychology Major - she/her

In something of a situationship with Camellia and roommates with Anna.

A romantic at heart but jaded to the core. Jane appears to be put together, but seems to hide a complicated relationship with her parents that brings her stress.

Likes: [REDACTED], non-fiction/classics, deep conversations

Dislikes: Nosy people, rumors, emotional outbursts

Anna - Side Character

19 years old - Fine Arts Major - she/they

Camellia's best friend and Jane's roommate.

Something of an otaku and a true crime junkie. Anna tends to be a bit of a worrywart... though with how many messes Camellia finds herself in, it's understandable.

Likes: Camellia, solving puzzles, crime shows

Dislikes: Camellia's exes, unwanted attention, loud noises

this game is excellent… especially as a bisexual bpd bitch™ i really relate to camellia. you did a really good job representing how it feels to chase a feeling so hard because you know what the alternative is.

(Spoilers Below)

I love how it’s so hard to really determine if anything is a “good” ending. The way that Camellia is wired makes it really hard to have a perfect ending no matter what unless she fundamentally changes. I like that even in her “it was always you!” ending realizing her feelings for Anna doesn’t make her any healthier. Finding the “right person” doesn’t automatically mean that she has the capacity to express love healthily, without the doing the work required that is.

Thank you for playing and I'm happy you enjoyed! As a fan of "merry bad" endings, one of my very first concepts for this game was "a game without any (conventionally) 'good' endings." So I'm glad my vision came through! 😊❤️‍🔥

Very fun game cant wait to see what else you make.

Thank you so much for your support and I'm glad you enjoyed! 😊🙏❤️‍🔥

I literally clapped my hands when I got to the ending, I got them all. Incredible novel!!

I'm glad you enjoyed! Thank you! 😊🙏❤️‍🔥

Played through to seeing all of the endings, figuring that out was fun and THANK YOU for putting a skip for one part after having done it already!

This was great and I'm not ashamed to say that a 18 year old me would have eaten this up like ambrosia, though still a good treat to the older and (probably not to be honest) wiser current me.

Camellia's struggles with a need for love/affection and anxiety is something the me of the past would relate to, and while I'm much better with it now, some of it still rings true today. Seeing her blow up on Anna was heart breaking and it had to stop and just put my head in my hands because I could see myself doing the same thing if I had been given the chance.

Jane... I love a good obsessive, and she is great, walls up high and hard to know what she's thinking, but there's enough shining coming from her to figure out if she likes the date or not which I think is nice going back for alt endings and actually knowing a bit more about her.

Anna, they're cool, best bud, really there and really 100% called the "It was always you" ending after like the first scene with her. Don't have a ton of words but she was great the whole time.

This is shockingly fleshed out for the jam, I had to basically do 2 whole playthroughs with plenty of saves to get all the endings, no idea how you had the time for that and all of the ending CGs!

In short: 10/10 wow that was some good stuff, hope you make more VNs in the future, great characters, great story, I'm going to try and forget my past anxiety a little bit after this reopened that mental wound!

Hello, thank you for your thorough review! I loved hearing your thoughts and impressions of the characters! Terribly sorry about reopening old wounds but I'm glad this story was able to ring true in a way! 🙏 I definitely put a LOT of time and effort and love into this story so it makes me happy to hear that you liked it! I also enjoyed making this VN and am planning on making plenty more in the future!! 😊❤️‍🔥
